Om Nama Shivaya.

Today, Feb 20  is Maha Shivaratri, the great annual Hindu festival , marking the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and also the cosmic dance of creation, destruction and preservation of the universe. This union is honored with music, dance, works of beauty and prayers for abundant vitality.

It is a celebration of our male and female aspects within ourselves, and our relationships with others, esp our significant others. Unmarried women on this day pray and celebrate a union with an ideal partner- one that will embody all aspects of Shiva- a man of balanced mind body and spirit.

Today is Spentra Armaitri, in the ancient Persian calendar- honoring the quiet strength and nurturing power of women.
The Roman counterpart today honors Tacita, the silent goddess, protectress against the ill effects of unkind speech.

Today is the end of the waning moon phase, as the moon moves into the dark renewal New Moon phase tomorrow.
New Moon Rituals, and Planetary Grid Transmissions begin

Today is Presidents' Day
The federal holiday Washington's Birthday honors the accomplishments of the man known as "The Father of his Country". Celebrated for his leadership in the founding of the nation, he was the Electoral College's unanimous choice to become the first President; he was seen as a unifying force for the new republic and set an example for future holders of the office.
The holiday is also a tribute to the general who created the first military badge of merit for the common soldier. Revived on Washington's 200th birthday in 1932, the Purple Heartmedal (which bears Washington's image) is awarded to soldiers who are injured in battle. As with Memorial Day and Veterans Day, Washington's Birthday offers another opportunity to honor the country's veterans.

 Ah, Such an Auspicious Day!
Good day to prepare for positive intentions and renewal of New Moon tomorrow. Continue to rid your physical spaces of debris and things you no longer need, and continue to cleanse you physical body by drinking lots of water, eating well, and celebrating each time you partake in the ritual of eating. Clear your mind by taking time to breathe, meditate, be still. Quiet your mind through gentle movement, yoga and exercise.
